Yvonne Hoar, Piano

Yvonne Hoar graduated from University of Idaho with degrees in Elementary Education and Music (Organ Performance) with composition as a minor. She holds organ performance certifications from Italy including Vacanza con la Musica Antica (Mentione di Merito) and Corso di Organo degli Incontri Musicale. Yvonne has performed and accompanied on both piano and organ for many years in the northwest/northeast United States and Italy. She has held many organist/music positions in churches for nearly 30 years and is presently at Sand Point Methodist church. Yvonne is an active composer and has written music for instrumental solos including piano, organ, trombone; duets for piano/voice, piano/trombone, organ/recorder, organ/English horn, organ/congregational singing and various chamber groups ranging from string quartet, woodwind quintet to a nonet for mixed winds, strings and piano. She has earned awards for her music including a scholarship for first place in a state wide competition sponsored by Tuesday Musicale Club when she was a student at UI. Yvonne’s composition for tenor recorder and organ were one of the few selected for region 8 (northwest states and Alaska) for publication in Seattle 2009 AGOrgan Book.

Yvonne has created and developed independent teaching programs for keyboard technique, theory and musicianship for the past 30 years. She has been on Music Center's faculty for nearly 15 years. Three years ago, Yvonne implemented the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program in her teaching. Her students, who have taken the RCM exams, have been recognized at high levels of achievement in both piano and theory.
