The Honors Recital is an event composed of talented students who are selected to participate based on their outstanding performance skills. This is not a competition of who is the best, but an opportunity for students of all performance levels to showcase their music abilities!
Applications are due Friday, March 21st by 5:00 pm (no late entries). The audition process and recital will be in person. To participate students must be available on both the audition and recital dates.
Students will be judged based on how polished their performance is (see judging rubric) and the selected performers will represent the diversity of the music and abilities at Music Center.
How To Apply
Complete the application form below.
Send a copy of your sheet music (as a PDF) to office@musiccenternw.org. This includes a copy of the solo music AND accompanist music if applicable.
Complete audition in person at Music Center. The office will confirm audition time with student beforehand.
Please consult with your teacher before submitting an application!
Other Important Details:
There are two judging categories, Category 1 for students with less than 2 years of lessons and Category 2 for students with more than 2 years of lessons.
Ensembles are only allowed if all students are taking lessons at Music Center.
Students will audition without accompaniment (with the exception of vocal students using a CD). If selected, students will work with the staff accompanist for the Honors Recital performance and should not use an alternative accompanist.
Students may audition on multiple instruments (only those which they are receiving lessons from MCNW teachers on) or may audition for a solo instrument and an ensemble, but may only be selected to perform once on the recital program regardless of the scoring for any / all of their auditions.
