Music Therapy at Music Center

Music therapy is an established health care profession in which music interventions are used to address cognitive, social-emotional and physical needs of individuals and families. Music therapy takes place within a therapeutic relationship with a board-certified music therapist. Music therapists have undergone specialized training, including completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher in music therapy, 1200 hours of clinical training, and a board certification examination. Whereas music lessons and ensembles focus on musical skill-building and development, music therapy focuses on non-musical skills through the intentional use of singing, dancing, and instrument play.

  • Private Music Therapy Services

Music Center offers in-person or telehealth music therapy services. New clients will begin with a one-hour assessment, during which the music therapist will learn more about the client’s interests, areas of strength and areas for growth. Assessments take place at Music Center or via telehealth, and will include exploration of instruments, singing, movement to music, and other interventions. The music therapist will then make recommendations regarding the appropriateness of music therapy services, frequency and duration of services, and music therapy goals. Families can then register for the remainder of the academic year or smaller packages. Contact us by filling out our Inquiry Form and one of our staff members will reach out to you about our program.

  • Mobile Music Therapy Services

Let our music therapists come to you! Music Center therapists can provide virtual or in-person services for groups or individuals at your school or facility. Sessions are tailored to your participants’ specific needs and aligned with your organization’s mission. Sessions may be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
