Private Lessons at Music Center
Private Lessons are an opportunity for musicians for all abilities and skills to work directly with Music Center teachers. Lessons take place in a one-on-one environment with experienced instructors that help students reach music education and performance goals through weekly sessions and guiding their at home practice.
-
Weekly Lessons (Ages 5 - 99+)
The starting point for many students is Traditional Private Lessons. Students are invited to take a 30-minute introductory lesson at a reduced cost. To begin the scheduling process, simply complete the Student Profile Form or call 206-526-8443.
Through one-on-one study, a music student receives complete attention in their lesson. However, beyond the weekly repetition of being asked to perform tasks, listen, and answer questions is the great strength of private lessons; the student is working with a teacher/mentor who helps guide their musical life. At Music Center, we believe the best learning happens through weekly private lessons. Students taking traditional lessons have the opportunity to enroll in The Royal Conservatory Certificate Program, a comprehensive and effectively sequenced program of music study and assessment.

Creative Music Making (Ages 5 - 10)
Not sure where to start? If your child has an interest in music but isn’t ready for private lessons or can’t decide which instrument to learn you may want to consider Creative Music Making which provides one-on-one instruction building a foundation for private lessons.
With a multi-instrumental approach, children will work to develop a foundation prior to beginning instrumental lessons. Sessions will use games, activities, and play with Ukulele, Piano, Drums, Guitar and Voice to focus on goals to explore music and build life skills. By building a basis of general musical experience, students will be prepared to jump into weekly lessons when the time is right.
-
Suzuki Academy (Ages 4+)
When you participate in Suzuki Academy, students will develop musical skills as they advance through the carefully laid out Suzuki repertoire for their instrument. Suzuki students often begin taking lessons at 3 or 4 years of age, with a parent or guardian engaging in weekly lessons and directing daily practice at home.
When beginning, students learn early pieces by listening & repeating (playing by ear) before learning to read music. All Suzuki Academy students will play with their peers in weekly or every other week group classes. The combination of individual and group instruction will lead students to success!
